I hope this helps anything else just ask! Tactics wise I would personally use/paint your tactical detachment as a veteran detachment instead this unit has the same organisation as a tactical detachment but the additional CAF bonus makes them a bit more formidable mate.

This weekend I finished another two full companies and as I want to maintain continuity I am now being forced to paint 200 tiny, tiny symbols!!īasing is another area where your life can rapidly turn into a monotonous nightmare (my current ones require 4-5 layers which is just too much when your painting 40 stands of 6mm figures) as such I would recommend something quick an easy like leaving the sand with the initial black undercoat as it's base layer and then highlighting up through the greys! Quick. When it comes to detail be careful when I initially started my Dark Angels I enthusiastically painted on individual chapter icons to every marines shoulder pad (I shit you not). No real need for washes or shading at this scale!įor the land raiders you can do a little bit more work as the tanks are a great way to make your army unique and will be the centre points/show pieces on the battle line (until you get some titans that is)! Once this is done then just pick out the details in appropriate colours (boltguns in metal etc). I would suggest all you need to do is paint the models a dark base colour then one or two dry brushes of a lighter colour for highlights. This is actually very simple and fluid to use.Īh well done sir this is excellent news! It's always good to find a new concert to 6mm warfare.įor the painting it really depends what chapter you're doing but whatever you choose you'll find that it's a lot easier and quicker than 28mm.

These unit cards are also a key mechanic during the battle as when a certain amount of troops (described on the card) have been killed then this causes the parent unit to be broken if this happens you hand the card to your opponent and he is awarded a specific number of Victory Points in addition to those that he has accrued from holding objectives(more on this later). For every company card (the large ones pictured below) you can select a further five detachment cards (the smaller ones) to support your main force. Each player chooses a number of company cards to represent the majority of their forces these are a one stop shop and tell you everything that you need to know about the forces under your command. In this battle report a force of mighty Space Marines will be fighting against.some more Space Marines it should be.well.epic!!įor those not familiar with this rule set you'll be pleased to hear that army selection is a pretty simple process. I have played all versions of the Epic system that have been released through the decades and I personally feel that these are the best set of rules that GW ever produced for this scale. The first battle we fought was an exciting game of Rogue Trader and you can read all about this encounter in my earlier post from last Sunday.įor our second game we decided to do something a little different and so dug out our old school Epic (6mm) armies for a game of Second Edition Space Marine (c.1991). Well as promised here is my second battle report from my retro games with my best mate the other day.
